Graphic Design

In this course I learned so much. It was hard
for me to retain all that I learned because there was so much information. I
feel that if I can buy the software and book that this course can be so beneficial
in finding work that I am happy doing. I realized from the very first class
that I have an artistic and creative mind. I saw this all through the class
researching different designers and their passion toward their work. I see that
there is actually a need for design and if you find your niche you can make
money doing it.
I enjoyed learning about signs and
posters and the elements that go into creating them. I feel that this is something
that I would like to specialize in. I see that as a beginner I would not be
able to just walk right into a sign shop and do what the designers I’ve been
researching do. I see that it takes practice. I understand that if this is
something I’m interested in that I would need to brush up on some of the things
I learned in this course and start apprenticing under someone else for a while.
After taking this class I am now always
on the lookout for art. I see it in the various billboards and ads. I see good
examples of art and bad. I even see it in the clouds and the views around me in
Vermont and surrounding areas. I have a greater appreciation for the whole
world around me that I did not always notice before. I also really notice art of
value. I understand that good art is not just thrown together. It takes time,
patience, work and research. There is so much more to it than I ever understood
before.
Color was a big part of this course.
I now see color schemes in our everyday world. This is another thing I am just
noticing now. I see how colors fit together either in the same scheme or
opposing patterns.
I am very happy that I took this
course. Although frustrated at times, I persevered and I feel very good that
with the help of many others I was able to finish this course and not give up.
I can use what I learned in so many
areas of my life. And coming back to school and learning again has encouraged
me to keep moving foraward and learn more! It has also encouraged me to take
the skills learned here and apply them at a job I would be happy to go to every
day!
